About Me
I've spent over 25 years working in and around telecommunications — not as a passenger, but as the person responsible for making things actually happen. From hands-on delivery roles early in my career through to leading major transformation programmes at Nokia and BT, I've built up a track record of turning complex, often messy situations into clear outcomes.
At Nokia, I led a team delivering learning and capability programmes for telecoms operators across Europe and beyond. But some of my most valuable work there was upstream of delivery — defining what we were actually building, for whom, and why. Owning a digital product portfolio meant making constant trade-off decisions: what to prioritise, what to retire, and how to shape the roadmap around real customer needs rather than internal assumptions. That product thinking — grounded in evidence, tested with users, and tied to commercial outcomes — has stayed central to how I work.
At BT, I've been at the heart of transforming one of the UK's most recognisable pieces of infrastructure — the payphone estate — from a legacy service into a modern digital network. A big part of that has been process work: mapping how things actually operate rather than how they're supposed to, finding where effort is wasted or value is leaking, and redesigning the flow so it's simpler and more reliable. That kind of work requires honest conversations with the people doing the job every day, not just the people managing it. Done well, it makes delivery faster and gives teams something they're proud to work within.
Across both organisations, I've grown revenue in markets most people had written off — not through luck, but by combining clear product positioning with operational improvements that let the business actually deliver on its promises.
My working style is straightforward: I start with the problem, not the methodology. I work with what's real — real constraints, real stakeholders, real timelines — and I build solutions that people can actually deliver. I'm not interested in producing polished documents that sit in a drawer. I want to see the outcome land.
I work well with organisations going through change who need someone who can quickly get to grips with what's going on, structure the path forward, and stay with it through to delivery. Whether that's defining a product, redesigning a process, or running a programme — the label matters less than the result.
Outside of the work itself, I'm genuinely interested in how technology can make things simpler rather than more complicated. That curiosity keeps me current without turning every conversation into a pitch for the latest trend.
